Andrew White, CEO

Andrew is the co-inventor of SulfaCHAR™ and co-founder of CHAR Technologies. He completed his graduate work in chemical engineering at the University of Toronto. Andrew co-founded CHAR Technologies Inc. while completing a Master’s Degree in Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) at the University of Waterloo, where his student team won the IBK Capital Ivey Business Plan Competition. Andrew and SulfaCHAR™ also won “Innovator Idol” in June 2012, a Dragon Den-inspired competition of entrepreneurs organized by The RIC Centre for commercializing Canadian technologies.


John Nicholson, COO

John has worked in the environmental/clean technology sector since 1989, in environmental consulting, environmental law, and government capacities.

As President of the Environmental Business Consultants since 2003, John is responsible for day-to-day operations of the company and servicing clients in the environmental technology sector as well as industry and governments. During his seven years at Canada’s prestigious Torys law firm, John worked with environmental lawyers at the firm servicing multi-national clients on a range of matters. He was also the environmental law groups’ key contact person with government regulators.

John is a member of the Air and Waste Management Association, is the past President of the Ontario Chapter, and is a registered professional engineer in the Province of Ontario.


Cindy Davis, CFO

With more than fourteen years of experience, seven of which are in public accounting primarily with junior exploration companies, Cindy brings a wealth of knowledge in accounting and financial reporting for public companies. She is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Accounting and Economics from the University of West Indies.


Dr. Don Kirk, Co-founder and Technical Advisor

Dr. Kirk is the co-inventor of the SulfaCHAR™ process and is the co-founder of CHAR Technologies. He is currently a tenured professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto.

He has more than 25 years of experience in research and innovation and has extensive knowledge in the area of solid adsorbents. Over the course of his career he has developed 15 patents and published more than 50 papers and journals related to solid waste, hydrogen, and green energy.
